The Marl Lake Resource Management Area is one of Wasaga Beach’s best-kept secrets. Take Hwy. 92 West from the town of Elmvale, and drive to the outskirts of the town of Wasaga Beach. From Hwy. 92, turn left (South West) onto Golf Course Road. Follow this road as it turns South and then turn left (East) onto Ryther Road. The access point to Marl Lake can be found at the first bend on Ryther Road. You must park on the edge of this road and hike in to the lake/marsh.
Drive to Coldwater as you follow either Hwy. 400 North or South or Hwy. 12 East or West depending upon your home location. Proceed North of Coldwater on the Upper Big Chute Road (County Rd.17) and follow it North and then as it swings to the East. Take the first left onto the Lawson Line and follow this road North West to: 1. the boat launch into the North River on your right; 2. the access points to the Brereton Trail on your left; and then 3. the Kinnear Sideroad where you will turn left and proceed down this road to the Cowan Site parking lot and the Cowan Trail system. Around the bend from here and a short distance down Trader Cowan Road is an access point to the Bay although with the lower lake levels in recent years, the shoreline is now 50 metres from the former ramp.
To get to the Thiffault Cell, you could get onto Quarry Road, East off of the 400 and travel a short distance to the parking lot on your right or you could go East on Kinnear Sideroad from Lawson Line to the Upper Big Chute Road, turn left, and just before the curve, turn left again onto Quarry Road and follow it until you see the Thiffault Cell parking lot on your left. You could also stay on the Upper Big Chute Road from Coldwater until you turn left onto Quarry Road.
This marsh is North West of Elmvale, ON. If you are driving North on Hwy. 400, take the Bayfield turn-off (Hwy. 27 North) and proceed to Elmvale. Keep on driving North of this town and take the County Road 6 turn-off to your left. Proceed North on this road until you reach the second road on your left (the Township Line between Tiny and Flos Townships) and turn West. You will see a Tiny Marsh sign on your right, just before you turn West. Proceed along this dirt road until you see the Tiny Marsh Provincial Wildlife Management Area sign on the North side of this road and you will find our parking lot.
